Within the company, the Design team raised concerns about improving the app interface to enhance user usability by seeking a simple design to provide smoothness and facilitate understanding. In collaboration with Design Ops and Product Designers, a new design for the app was developed and gradually implemented throughout 2023. This design was defined after market studies in the financial sector.

In my role, updating the flows helped to streamline and reduce friction within the Pix flows. The idea of reducing steps and simplifying the completion process within the flow yielded excellent results for the company, such as reducing the time to complete Pix transactions and increasing volume and usage.

At this point, I would like to share some comparisons regarding the Pix flow via bank details. In this process, users need to enter a considerable amount of recipient information to complete the payment.

Pix via dados bancários

The Pix flow via bank details requires specific data entry to complete the transaction. In this flow, there used to be data entry on multiple screens, and the idea was to centralize this Pix configuration on one screen for the user to proceed with the completion later. Old flow:

In the new design, the main banks where users conducted transactions via bank details were analyzed according to metrics. With this, a shortcut was added to the home screen, along with a search feature. The focus was to bring agility and provide an environment where users could review the data without needing to backtrack in the flow if changes were necessary.

New flow:

Given the flow changes, we decided to delve deeper into understanding the use of Pix via bank details. To do this, we included a link for direct access to this functionality when the user enters the Pix Key. This change resulted in a significant increase in the use of this option, which was previously only available on the Pix home screen. We concluded that users may not have found this feature before, which may be why most now start this flow when entering the Pix Key instead of on the Pix home screen.

In summary, the changes implemented in the Pix flows yielded positive results in terms of usability and efficiency. Streamlining processes and including intuitive features provided a smoother experience for users, resulting in increased adoption and usage of the functionalities offered. Additionally, a detailed analysis of usage patterns revealed valuable insights that allowed us to strategically adjust the app's design and navigation to better meet the needs and expectations of our users. We will continue to closely monitor user feedback and constantly seek ways to further enhance the Pix experience.
